The Archconfraternity of the Souls of the Purgatory was established in the 17th century in Valletta and obtained from the Greek Catholic Church the administration of the Church of St Nicholas in Valletta. The archive created contains the activity related to the administration of the Archconfraternity and its activity, including the administration and maintenance of the church. It also contains records related to the legacies of the Archconfraternity. The archive was housed in the mentioned church in a wooden cupboard. When the Archconfraternity became defunct and the mentioned Church was passed for the use of the Eastern Orthodox faithful, the archive was brought to the Archbishop's Curia in 2021.
